Would you pay double the retail price for a Honda S2000, a decade after it was made?

Marking the last year of its production, in 2009 Honda finished 84 of the iconic S2000 sportscars in Berlina Black with a black leather interior. One of the rare cars was shipped to Nardy Honda in St. James, New York, only to be bounced around from dealer to dealer. With two months left on the factory warranty the AP2 S2000 is now being offered for sale in San Diego, California.

Powered by a 2.2-liter VTEC inline-four engine mated to a six-speed manual transmission and a limited slip differential, the S2000 is rated for an exceptional output of two horsepower per cubic inch of displacement. The Berlina Black paint is still in new condition, as is the black convertible top. Equipped with the best of the years standard options, the car came with an electric rear window defroster, Xenon HID headlamps, LED taillights, ABS, tire pressure monitoring, day time running lights, and 17” alloy wheels mounted with Bridgestone Potenza tires.

With bolstered leather seats accented with red stitching, the black interior is stunning. A leather wrapped steering wheel, cruise control, and aluminum pedals work to make the car comfortable with a sophisticated feel. Inspiring the driver to focus on the drive and offering a more simplistic and finished look, the CD stereo head unit is enclosed behind a spring-loaded cover.

As this 10-year-old S2000 was never registered to a private owner and only has 91 miles on the clock, it's basically a new car. It comes with all the appropriate documentation, including a clean Carfax report, a manufacturer statement of origin, and the original window sticker which clearly displays the MSRP of $34,795.

Despite the modesty of the original posted sale price, the current bid on Bring-A-Trailor has already doubled the MSRP with 3 days left to go. The only other S2000 to come close to this $70,000 price tag was an example with 988 miles on the clock that sold for $48,000.
