Motorious’ Picks Of Cars That Crossed The GAA Block Thursday

Thursday is a great warm up day for bidding at GAA. This means some really cool cars get sold for not a lot of money, and some do. Here are a few gems that worth a mention.

1 of 6,749 40th Anniversary Edition Corvettes

Celebrating 40 years and 4 generations of the Corvette, Chevrolet produced 6,749 40th Anniversary Corvettes in 1993. As standard optioned, they all featured a Ruby Red Metallic finish with Ruby Red leather Sport seats, special wheel center trim, and 40th Anniversary emblems through out and were available with a multitude of factory upgrade options. Likewise, the 40th Anniversary option was available on both convertibles and coupe models.

This example sold at Thursday’s July 2019 auction with no reserve by GAA, features such options as power windows and door locks, power heated mirrors, 6 way power seats with dual power lumbar support, air conditioner, cruise control, a tilt steering column and a factory AM/FM/CD Bose upgraded sound system with a power antenna. Upgraded with the factory option Z07 performance suspension system and power 4 wheel disc brakes, it delivers 390 HP from the LT1 350 CID engine backed by an automatic transmission.

2001 Chevrolet Camaro SS

I have personally spent a lot of time discussing the trend of F-Body valuations on the rise - this Camaro is a prime example to prove my point. Since the market for these cars bottomed out a few years ago, it’s now on the upswing, and clean examples like this ’01 SS are pulling higher bids than the years prior. This car pulled a $17K bid to bring it home.

1982 Chevrolet Corvette Collector Edition

In 1982, the new "Cross-Fire" fuel injection was introduced with computers controlling two fuel injectors, this allowed for up to 80 adjustments per second to improve drivability and fuel economy. The exhaust was reengineered, and Chevy offered a special Collector Edition for this year. There was only 6,759 of these produced, making this example a rare get, and a steal at that price.

1963 Morris Minor 1000

Imported from England, this car is definitely the quirkiest model sold Thursday. The right-hand drive car was used in movies as a police car, and was once owned by Brenda Lee.

1970 Dodge Coronet Super Bee

Sold for $44,000

This classic muscle car pulled in some very interested bidders, and ultimately went home for $44,000. Since Dodge only built 1336 total 4-speed coupes in 1970, this is not a car you’ll find for sale everyday. Additionally, it has undergone a complete frame-up restoration and features many factory-correct details.
