This McLaren P1 GTR has clocked just 120 miles and features some distinctive McLaren Special Operations options

When McLaren Automotive decided to launch a new statement-making halo model back in 2013, they didn’t leave anything on the table. Forged from decades of engineering experience and banned Formula One technology, this hybrid hypercar became one of the most capable road production cars in the world. However, McLaren’s Ultimate Series car still had limitations.

While 903hp and a 0-60mph time of 2.8 seconds doesn’t sound like the credentials of a car that has been restricted, the laws of the road prevented the P1 from excelling as the most extreme machine McLaren were capable of building. The McLaren P1 GTR takes the road-legal hyper car and sets it free on the race track.

The track-only P1 GTR is an exceptionally rare beast with just 58 examples built, and only offered to existing P1 customers. This 986hp motorsport developed monster features a spartan interior, 50kg less weight, slick tires, bespoke exhaust system, and an extensive aerodynamic package that includes a DRS fixed rear wing.

This McLaren P1 GTR offered for sale by Canepa is particularly special, as it was the first example delivered in America. It’s distinctive Canepa Green and Papaya orange comes curtesy of time spent with McLaren’s bespoke customisation division, McLaren Special Operations (MSO). MSO can create everything from unique colors to entire custom models if you desire. The sanctioning of heritage McLaren badging from MSO by this car’s first owner is a nice nod back to the Le Mans winning F1 GTR of 1995.

The GTR has also been equipped with a passenger seat allowing others to experience this car’s incredible 1.5G cornering abilities and 217mph top speed. If you really want to frighten your copilot, slamming on the brakes at 60mph will arrest the car’s progress in just 85ft. You can even capture the whole escapade on camera with the P1’s built-in video and telemetry system.

The McLaren P1 GTR is the ultimate version of one of the world’s ultimate cars, with opportunities to purchase such a machine few and far between. Pricing is upon appointment for this exceptional 120-mile GTR, but Canepa will be happy to assist interested parties.
