Which one wore it better?

We have two different takes on the venerable Dodge Challenger, one classic and one more modern but still special. The question is which is better: the 1970 Dodge Challenger R/T 440 Six Pack or the 2013 Dodge Challenger SRT by Petty’s Garage? Both are being offered by SYA! Musclecars and could be yours.

Up first is the 1970 Dodge Challenger R/T 440 Six Pack. It looks amazing with a glass-smooth Plum Crazy paint job and black accents on the hood. The wheels, bumpers, side mirror caps, and even the hood pins absolutely glisten in the sunlight. If it looks as if it just rolled off the factory line, there’s good reason for that. The car went through a complete rotisserie restoration and has only racked up 500 miles since.

Dodge came late to the muscle car party, launching the Challenger in 1970. That means this Challenger R/T 440 Six Pack marks the maiden voyage of what became a legend. The 440 ci V8 breathes freely through three Holley two-barrel carburetors, the Six Pack, which is the key to this car’s breathtaking acceleration. Essentially, this is a muscle car history lesson that growls and bites back.

Then there’s the modern iteration, the 2013 Dodge Challenger SRT by Petty’s Garage. It has an almost completely blacked-out appearance, save for the badging and wheels, making it appear more sinister. The 6.4-liter V8 has been outfitted with a forged crankshaft, forged piston pins, and forged H-beam connecting rods. Thanks to aggressive tuning, it produces a mighty 605-horsepower at the rear wheels and 547 lb.-ft. of torque. A cat-back exhaust system by Borla Performance gives this muscle car a more aggressive sound on startup, at idle, and under acceleration. Petty’s Garage adjustable front anti-roll bars, plus height adjustable coilover kit with tunable damping, bumper steer correction bushings, and a four-wheel alignment boost handling, which is completely necessary with all that extra power dumped in the car.

This Dodge Challenger SRT was the third and final one built by Petty’s Garage for 2013, making it quite special. The exterior and interior are definitely of showroom quality, so you’ll impress even highly critical car fans.

So, the question is which of these Challengers is the most compelling?
