The 1969 Dodge Daytona is a distinctive car with its huge rear wing and unmistakable body lines. Kicking off the first year of the first generation, the 1969 Dodge Daytona was created as a winning racecar after competing in NASCAR's prominent races. Since the '68 Dodge Charger 500 was considered a flop and with losing Richard Petty to Ford, the limited-edition Daytona was the answer to keep Dodge in the game. In fact, the high-performance Daytona proved victorious during its debut at the inagural Talladega 500. In fact, the car took the first place spot at six total races, two in 1969 and four in 1970. The Daytona's cousin, the '70 Plymouth Superbird, took home eight wins in 1970 alone. While it was a force to be reckoned with at NASCAR, the Daytona was also a proven winner and record setter at the USAC and ARCA race series.

Tucked neatly under the hood is a monstrous 440cui Magnum V8 engine that produced a stout 425-horsepower and 490 lb/ft of torque with power sent down to the pavement via a 4-speed manual transmission. The body of this Daytona gleams in a brilliant red complete with contrasting black accents that includes its distinctive 23-inch-tall stabilizer wing. Repacling the traditional front grile is a "nose cone' made of special sheet metal. Since the Daytona was built using Charger's R/T trim, it also was given the heavy-duty suspension for handling and big brakes for stopping power.
