The latest Aston Martin Zagato collaboration – 99 examples of the Vanquish Shooting Brake – may still be in its infancy, but one owner is selling theirs already.

Of the one billion cars in the world, less than 100 of them can claim to be an Aston Martin Vanquish Zagato Shooting Brake. Boasting such exclusivity, upon finding one on the open market, surely the vendor has a questionable motive for selling theirs on? Especially when you take into account how market fresh this special model is. The project was only announced in 2017. Either way, you can bid on this Lava Red example here.

The 595bhp V12 Shooting Brake was launched as the final instalment of Zagato’s special design project based on Aston's Vanquish model. Arguably, of the four bodystyles – coupe, convertible, speedster, and shooting brake – the 'estate' variant remains the most lucrative, due largely to the attached prestige on any rare ‘Shooting Brake’ label.

Strictly limited to a very small number, getting your hands on one will never be easy, making this Rétromobile 2019 auction lot rather special.

Each car has been developed in Aston’s special ‘Q’ department, with the design penned by famous Italian coachbuilder Zagato, a marque that has been working with Aston since 1960 – most famously on the iconic DB4 Zagato. All collaborations share a commonality, with Zagato’s signature curves and broken lines making their way into the latest design.

Perhaps the fastest ever load lugger, the Shooting Brake completes 0-62mph in only 3.5 seconds. Top speed is north of 190mph. All in all, impressive stuff for a car designed to carry more than just passengers. There are eight gears available to the driver, with carbon ceramic disc brakes providing ample stopping power, especially effective when coupled with tyres developed for Pirelli’s Formula 1 programme.

Chassis no. SCFNMCUZXKGJ54490, which is the 12th of the 99 built, has a Obsidian Black leather interior with carbon trim, and all the usual luxuries that modern Astons offer. And with this being the only example in the world on the market, this is the only opportunity you have to enjoy those luxuries in shooting brake form at present.

Register your interest with auctioneer Hervé Poulain at least 48 hours before the February 8 sale at Rétromobile in Paris, where the estimate price for this vehicle is €800 000 - €1,000,000 ($910,000 - $1.1m, £700,000 - £880,000).
