Old school muscle meets modern day power with this Formula!

The 1973 Pontiac Firebird Formula is a rare bird. Since the year model is after the introduction of the Trans Am’s in 1969, the world was a bit obsessed with the T/As at the time - this was also before the 1977 body style change that would be one of the most iconic looking cars ever made.

However, this is no car that people are going to easily forget. The Formula is a slightly different looking car than the Trans Am, but always had the V8 power and lots to love. Many prefer Formulas due to their sleeker styling, while being able to deliver the same punch as the Trans Ams - this car, in particular, has a lot more punch.

From a few feet away, this Formula looks like a great show car, which is most certainly is, but it’s a lot more than that. The (very) subtle carbon fiber front splitter is a tip off that there’s more going on with this car than being a great condition 1973 F-Body. While it maintains its rare, original dual snorkel hood, the car was torn down to the frame and completely worked over.

The major change this phoenix rose from the project with is a modern LS 6.0-liter powertrain, that’s backed by a 4L60E automatic transmission with 2800 stall torque converter. Power is funneled into a study 10-bolt rearend with 3.43:1 gearing. Feeding the engine is a high-pressure internal fuel pump - cooling the engine is an aluminum radiator. The engine exhales through high-flow catalytic converters and dual flow mufflers. This Formula gets stopping power from drilled and slotted disc brakes.
