Don't Try To Ignore This 1977 Pontiac Firebird Trans Am

Most times when people think of a late ‘70s Pontiac Firebird Trans Am, they think of the black and gold color scheme that Burt Reynolds popularized via the film Smokey and the Bandit. However, even though it left the assembly line with Buccaneer Red paint, this 1977 Firebird Trans Am now sports a unique color-changing exterior paint job.

On the outside, this Pontiac seems to be in great shape, and the custom paint job looks like it was definitely performed in a thorough manner. Going through the photos, you could hardly ever tell that this Firebird was once red, thanks to areas such as the trunk and door jams being painted.

The interior of this Firebird features the factory bucket seats, though someone reupholstered them in a purple microfiber fabric to match the exterior. Other highlights of the interior are a Pioneer stereo system, power steering, power windows, and aluminum trim.

This Pontiac left the factory with a 400 cubic-inch V8 engine, but another 400 cubic-inch mill with a COMP Cam's camshaft has since replaced it, so it’s hard to determine if the 61,030 miles listed in the advertisement are the miles on the engine or just the chassis. In any case, the V8 engine pairs to an automatic transmission to drive the rear wheels in this example. Lastly, there’s polished American Racing wheels and power brakes at all four corners, while a posi rear end with 3.42 gearing is out back.
