People have loved convertibles arguably since before cars were even invented. It’s easy to understand why, especially when you look at something like this beautiful 1955 Ford Fairlane Sunliner. It’s been through a frame-off restoration process that lasted 4 and a half years, meaning it’s guaranteed to impress.

The first thing everyone notices is that Snowshoe White paint and how it complements the Seasprite Green on the lower portion of the car. Chrome on the bumpers, rocker covers, headlight surrounds, front grille, hood ornament, and other trim pieces really makes this car look smart. You can keep the top down on this Sunliner to enjoy the weather, or put up the tan cloth top, which is in good shape. Wide whitewall tires, steel rimes painted Seasprite Green, plus chromed hubcaps with the Ford shield emblazoned on them rounds out a very tight exterior presentation.

For the interior, the same Snowshoe and Seasprite Green color scheme continues, making for a very smart two-tone layout. Even more impressive are the excellent OE gauges and switchgear, plus the original steering wheel in fantastic shape. The upholstery, dash, carpets, and even the trunk are all nearly perfect. There’s even a spare tire with a steel Seasprite Green wheel.

While this isn’t a super powerful or fast car, the engine compartment is still quite impressive. A 272ci V8 with 2 bbl carb presents well, thanks to the painted block and everything surrounding the engine looking so clean you might be tempted to eat off it. A smooth Ford-O-Matic 3-speed automatic transmission sends power to the rear wheels.

From 1955 to 1971, Ford manufactured the full-size Fairlane line, meaning this car is from the inaugural model year. When it launched, this car epitomized mid-century American vehicle styling, complete with fins, rocket-style taillights, and a jet-age hood ornament. This particular car has won multiple awards since its restoration, including First Junior at Hershey, First Senior at Hershey, first place at Cherry Hill, and many more.
