With a professional restoration, this ’68 GTX is a beautiful coupe.

For about 17 years, Chrysler utilized the B platform, which was a midsize, front-engine, and rear-drive layout. Plymouth had a variety of different models that used the platform, including the entry-level Belvedere, the midgrade Satellite, the upscale GTX, and the performance-oriented Road Runner. This 1968 Plymouth GTX received a full restoration, and it’s a fantastic example of the powerful, but classy muscle car.

Vintage Planet in Cookeville, Tennessee offers this GTX for sale. They mention that this example underwent a professional restoration, and it definitely shows.

This Mopar machine catches the eye, with its sloping body lines and beautiful Matador Red exterior paint color. The seller notes that the bodywork is “laser straight,” and the pictures confirm that. This handsome coupe looks good from just about every angle, especially with the 5-spoke American Racing wheels at all four corners.

Take a look inside the all-original cabin and you’ll see a mostly white interior theme, which nicely complements the bright exterior hue. However, there’s wood trim on the dashboard and the door cards, providing a nice contrast from all the white in the interior, as well as a luxurious touch.

As stated earlier, Plymouth intended the GTX to not only be an upscale offering in the B-Body lineup, but also a powerful one. Under the hood, you’ll find a numbers matching drivetrain, consisting of a 440 cu.-in. Magnum V8 engine, which pairs to a 3-speed automatic transmission to drive the rear wheels.

The advertisement states that this GTX only has 35,900 miles on it, so it is safe to say that this Plymouth will be a solid runner. Additionally, this specimen features a new exhaust system, which certainly sounds great when playing the sound of the Mopar V8.
