This is the ‘Vette eye candy everybody wants.

While America’s Sports Car, the Chevrolet Corvette, is an overall attractive car, some model years are considered absolute design masterpieces. This 1958 Chevy Corvette represents what’s arguably the design pinnacle for the C1 and maybe even Corvettes for all time.

Just look at this thing, because the ’58 Corvette absolutely oozes brash confidence from bumper to bumper. Among all the nice body creases are styling points like the rear chrome suspenders on the rear, simulated hood vents, chrome teeth in the grille, and faux vents in the side coves. This particular car has nice Silver Blue paint, which goes great with the white coves and whitewall tires. And of course there are just acres of chrome trim pretty much everywhere you can see. Factory wheels and badges complete the OE appearance of this ‘Vette.

Powering this Chevy is a 283ci V8 with dual Carter WCFB carbs plus a Winter’s aluminum intake. Mated to a Powerglide automatic transmission, this car accelerates smooth and is perfect for cruises around town, plus hitting the open road.

The blue interior just seems to flow right together with the exterior, especially when the white soft top is down. A white shifter knob and interior door pulls add a nice bit of contrast. The fact all the factory details like the steering wheel, dashtop-mounted rearview mirror, switchgear, gauges, and AM radio are present means this car is truly complete.

In the late 1950s American automakers faced an onslaught from several foreign automakers, chief among them Volkswagen. To get consumers more interested in their cars, designs were pushed to the limit. The 1958 Corvette is one of the finest examples of this effort, which is why it’s one of the most highly sought-after model years today. This thing is a true head-turner that earns praise everywhere you could take it. This ‘Vette is being offered through Ideal Classic Cars.
