Though the practice of adding a turbocharger to an engine for emissions-related reasons isn’t anything new, Buick’s renowned Grand National model was one of the first muscle cars to incorporate a turbocharger for both power and efficiency. At the time, the GN shocked the muscle car world, and these days, it’s an extremely sought after piece of Buick history. Now that you have a little bit of history on it, check out this low-mileage 1987 Buick Grand National that is ready to drive.

GR Auto Gallery of Grand Rapids, Michigan offers this clean Grand National for sale. Though they mention this is a “driver quality” vehicle, it’s in remarkable shape throughout, and it includes a thick manila envelope full of the vehicle’s history.

The exterior of this GN is in mostly good shape. Being a driver quality vehicle, there are some minor blemishes, but the paint shines brightly and all of the panels are straight. Additionally, this model features a t-top roof, which provides a pleasant “open-air experience” when behind the wheel.

With the exception of a newer radio interface, the interior remains original, with minimal bits of wear. The carpet, bucket seats, and dashboard all appear pristine, and all electronics function properly. This example also features various creature comforts, such as power steering, power brakes, and power windows.

Under the hood, you’ll find an astonishingly clean engine bay. The turbocharged 3.8-liter V6 engine made a healthy 245 horsepower and 355 lb.-ft. of torque when it left the factory, and an automatic transmission distributes that power to the rear wheels. With just 71,983 miles on the odometer, this Grand National is a running and driving example, with the seller adding that it is a blast to drive.
