The donor car provides some solid power for a great driving experience.

Of all the classic American cars on the market, one that consistently fetches high prices is literally any 1953 C1 Corvette. For that reason alone, considering this 1953 Chevrolet Corvette Tribute isn’t a bad idea. It’s a far more affordable way to get the look of the car, but without taking out a third mortgage. This replica car is being offered for sale through AutoBarn Classic Cars.

Built in 1988, the tribute actually uses Chevrolet running gear, thanks to a 1972 Chevy Nova being the donor car, making for a brand-authentic experience. That means power comes from a 350ci small block V8, which pairs with a 3-speed automatic transmission. A solid fiberglass body was applied, which was made by Classic Sports Cars, Inc. from Holly Hill, Florida. While it’s a kit, the proportions and curves are spot-on. Kit Car World of Orlando, Florida applied the Polo White enamel to the body, while all the beautiful chrome plating was applied by Atlantic Coast Plating. Included is a top that snaps onto body behind the seats and the windshield frame.

For the most part, the red interior is a pretty solid copy of the 1953 Corvette. One big exception is the shifter and center console, which were sourced from a Chevrolet from a more modern era. Despite this car now being 30 years-old, the carpeting, vinyl, and plastics are all in good repair. While the steering wheel has an authentic look, there is a tilt function so getting into and out of the driver’s seat is that much easier.

Of course, this tribute vehicle is significant since 1953 was the first model year for the legendary Chevrolet Corvette. To help with the hurried production of the first batch of cars, GM only offered the ’53 ‘Vette with white paint and a red interior. To buy one today would be well out of the financial reach for most people, but this replica is far more attainable.
