Glory In A Real 1969 Chevy COPO Camaro

The name COPO means so much to Chevy fans, but it’s been abused by some looking to make a quick buck. While there are fakes out there, this 1969 Chevrolet COPO Camaro is the real deal. It’s a numbers-matching car, complete with the original Protect O Plate and documentation by Jerry MacNeish. Truly, something like this is a treasured find.

You’ll notice in the pictures this car looks absolutely amazing inside and out. That’s because it went through a full nut and bolt restoration. This is not a restomod or anything near that, but instead has been brought back to its original state. The entire restoration process was documented, so you know it was done correctly. It’s really the proper thing to do with such a legendary vehicle. That means the Orange paint is correct, as is the entire Black interior.

Naturally, the shining star in this impressive presentation is the factory all-aluminum ZL1 427ci big block V8. That engine was officially rated at 430-horsepower, but owners have claimed that on a dyno it makes far more power than that. The engine works with an automatic transmission, so you don’t have to worry about grinding the gears or riding the clutch, but you still enjoy loads of power.

1969 was the final production year for the first-generation Camaros, and it’s considered by many to be the best model year for the muscle car, which originally launched in 1967. The Camaro is a well-loved and highly collectible American vehicle, and this is one of the best you will ever see. There aren’t too many COPOs around, thanks to the 427 almost doubling the car’s purchase price originally, causing most shoppers to pass it over.
