1991 Porsche 911 By Singer Could Be Auctioned For $1M

Sound the alarm. Auction house Gooding & Company is bringing a Singer to its 2019 Pebble Beach auction next week! The event will take place from Friday, August 16, 2019 through Saturday, August 17, 2019. The winning bidder, this year, will be lucky enough to bring home a Singer 911. What makes this so noteworthy is the fact that this is the first time a Porsche 911 restored by Singer Vehicle Design will be publicly sold.

It will be interesting to see how much this German sports car goes for, but prices are rumored to start at around $400,000 for your own custom Singer. Attractive options could bring that price up by another $200,000 or $300,000. The price isn’t the only factor to consider, as there is a rather lengthy waiting list for a Singer. This is due to the amount of time it takes to build one, so patience is a virtue. That’s why this auction is such an exciting one; you don’t have to wait on any list to own one this time around.

This particular Singer started its life out as a 1991 Porsche 911 and is called the “Mountain View Car.” The nickname is consistent with the fact that most Singer builds are named after a location. The car was completed by Singer Vehicle Design in 2016 and was built with light weight in mind. It may lack some conveniences like air conditioning, a radio, and a sunroof, but the carbon-fiber body has ensured a sub-3,000-pound curb weight when soaking wet. If you think about it, that’s not a lot of weight for a car with an Ed Pink–built, air-cooled 4.0-liter flat-six engine that pushes out a satisfying 390 horsepower.

The exterior is dressed in a striking Downtown Blue paint with Singer Racing Orange accents. This 1991 Porsche 911 also sports an external oil filler that pays homage to the classic 1967 911 R. The interior features bare floors, carbon-fiber seats with Tobacco Brown leather, a MOMO Prototipo-style steering wheel, drilled pedals, and basket-weave trim panels. Each and every detail was carried out with precision and hints at the impressive performance and heritage of this vehicle.
