It’s well-optioned and documented as a real SS 454.

Stop what you’re doing and feast your eyes on this brilliantly stunning 1971 Chevrolet Monte Carlo SS 454. This vehicle is documented by GM of Canada as an authentic SS 454, which is very rare. It’s also one of 10 with rear shoulder belts. These vehicles are difficult to authenticate, but this model comes with the records to prove it’s real. When you take that into consideration and also factor in all the options, this Monte Carlo just keeps getting better. It is currently being offered up for sale through Volo Auto Museum with an asking price of $31,998. If you are interested in this beauty, though, you can also make an offer on the car here.

Starting at the exterior, the body is arrow straight on this car. If you take a walk around the vehicle, it’s like looking into a mirror. There is no rust or damage that can be seen. The Black Cherry paint is the true spotlight stealer, though. It’s a lustrous deep burgundy metallic that has been polished out to a glass finish. The bumpers, bumper guards, grille, and headlight bezels all look good as new. It’s sporting a cowl induction hood with a newly replaced windshield. The vinyl top is also in very good shape. This ’71 Monte Carlo SS rides on 15-inch aluminum Weld Racing wheels that contrast the exterior color beautifully.

Moving on to the cabin, the inside of this car appears as though it’s been really nicely restored. The seats were reupholstered and feel like they are sporting new cushions. The plastic and chrome trim on the bucket seats was also replaced. All of the door panels, carpeting, floor mats, armrests and chrome backing plates were replaced too. This example has the round SS gauges with the factory tachometer. Monte Carlos come adorned with wood grain trim on the dash and console that elevate the cabin appeal. This ’71 model is also fully loaded with factory features like a tilt steering wheel, power windows, seats, and locks, a rear defogger and more. Upgrades on this beauty include a gauge cluster under the dash, a tachometer on the pillar, and a stereo.

The Monte Carlo SS you see here is believed to have the original 454 engine in it. The engine code pad was decked during the rebuild, and the casting numbers on the back look correct. This model boasts a performance build with some nice upgrades. For example, it’s equipped with a high-rise Edelbrock intake with a big dual-feed Holley carb with braided lines, Areo couplings, and a fuel regulator. It’s also got an upgraded alternator, MSD ignition system, external vacuum pump, and a new set of headers.

The car fires right up, runs strong, and drives like a dream that will have your heartbeat on the rise. Other noteworthy features include a high torque starter, aluminum driveshaft with safety loop, turbo 400 automatic transmission, 12-bolt rear end with 3.31 Posi gears and custom fuel delivery system. This bad boy was also given a Flowmaster exhaust system that lets out a tantalizing exhaust note as the cherry (or shall we say, Black Cherry) on top.
