If it’s good enough for Arnie, it’s definitely good enough for you.

Having a cool, quasi-military off-road vehicle is definitely one way to make a strong statement wherever you go. If you grab this 1962 Mercedes-Benz Unimog 404.1, people will definitely be giving you some extra space on the road. It looks intimidating, capable, and really cool. Plus you don’t see really any of these around, so you’re not going to walk up to the wrong vehicle in the parking lot.

Clad in matte black with large tires, a boxy design, auxiliary lights mounted high, and excellent ground clearance, this Unimog certainly looks capable. As you probably already know, looks aren’t everything, but this truck has the equipment to back it up.

The stinger bumper has supports extending to the front fenders and roof, proving excellent protection as you negotiate uneven terrain. Rear- and front-mounted winches, snorkel, several jerry cans, plus a hammer, recovery shovel, and traction mats mounted on the rig make this the ultimate vehicle for going far away from roads.

This particular Unimog has the shorter wheelbase, making it quite capable for hitting trails or going through other rough terrain. The rugged nature of this truck made it popular for military use and to fight fires in Germany. If you want that kind of capability at your disposal, contacting the seller to find out more would be a good move.

The first Unimogs rolled off the production line back in 1948 and were important to the economic recovery of Germany after the close of WWII. At first they were used on farms and in forests, but today they can be found in all kinds of industries with various upfits. Unimogs are also incredibly popular off-road recreation vehicles, thanks to their excellent trail capabilities. It’s rare to see them in North America, so this one is sure to stir up some solid interest. To scoop up this vehicle, contact Vintage Car Collector.
