Clean California Convertible: 1965 Buick Special

At some point in the past, this 1965 Buick Special Convertible was owned by Paramount Studios, and while not all movie cars can be big-screen stars like the DeLorean, this car could definitely be the star of a local car show or cruise in. If you like what you see, this car will be sold at no reserve by the Premier Auction Group in December.

Even for a California car, this Buick Special looks exceptional with remarkably good paint and chrome and a perfectly clean convertible top. The red paint with a white soft top are eye catching on this car, and the optional hubcaps with white wall tires provides a perfect mid-'60s look. While there are no pictures of the white interior or under the hood, we can only imagine they match the level of quality shown from the body work.

Based on GM's A-body platform, the 1965 Buick Special is closely related to the Chevrolet Chevelle, Oldsmobile Cutlass and Pontiac LeMans, which puts it in good company for the muscle car era. As such, this drop-top has a stylish body with Buick's trademark VentiPorts adorning the fenders, and under the hood, this car is powered by Buick's 300 CID V8 mated to an automatic transmission. This drivetrain makes the '65 Special ideal for any road trip, and this Buick would be great for motoring up the California coast or heading out on a peaceful Sunday drive.

It isn't clear what role this car may have had when it was owned by Paramount, but a quick check of IMCDB didn't have any red-on-white '65 Special Convertibles show up in its extensive database. Whatever the case, this car is interesting nonetheless and would definitely look cool rolling up to a car show full of Chevelles, Camaros and Mustangs.
