This car looks like a drag-racing project that got away from someone.

It's always a surprise what cars you'll find hiding in yards, barns and garages. Such is the case with this interesting 1964 Chevrolet Bel Air that someone recently pulled from a 25-year slumber, and is now trying to sell on eBay.

While the body shows plenty of patina, it doesn't appear there is any invasive rust on the body. Likewise it appears that the worst part of the interior is tearing on the seats; the dash, headliner and door panels all look to be in great condition judging by the pictures.

It would be cool to drive this car in this exact patina condition especially when you consider what's under the hood. This Bel Air's original inline-six engine was swapped out for a big-block 454 CID V8, which has been upgraded with Hooker headers, Holley carb and Edelbrock intake. This engine is matched with a B&M console shifter, and the staggered-width wheels give the rear tires a little extra meat for traction. If it wasn't for the massively bulging hood, this car would be the ultimate sleeper... driven as is!

With all the age and modifications made to this car, the biggest question mark surrounding this Bel Air would be the origin of the 454. An early 1970s version of this engine would be a true muscle car engine, while later years decreased in power and torque. Even worse, if it's a truck engine, then power is down even more.

If you're looking for a project car or just a monster of a sleeper, then this 1964 Chevrolet Bel Air is a great option. After sitting for so long, this car probably needs plenty of work to get running again, but the asking price of $8,500 doesn't seem all that bad.
