Drive this classic long enough and you’ll start believing the world is flat.

It was in 1960 that Porsche phased out the venerable 356A for the 356B, which was called inside the company the T5. This fine example being offered to the public through Frazier Motorcar Company is a 1961 Porsche 356B. It has been owned by the same person for the past 43 years, with service records included all the way to 1976, including an engine rebuild.

As show on the COA, this 356B was originally the Ruby Red you see now, which looks great with a well-earned patina. A nice shine matches the vibrant chrome trim pieces on areas like the bumpers, side mirror, and spear on the front hood. Other small details have been preserved, like the rocket-style amber turn signals on the front fascia and the Porsche badges. This car even rolls on the correct factory wheels. Overall, the presentation is definitely suitable for a driver-quality car.

Also abounding in original details is the Black interior. Among them is the leather-wrapped steering wheel, gauges, AM radio, and various controls. The sunroof was a factory option, and it’s in working order. The white headliner presents nicely, without any of the stains or drooping you might see in other vehicles of this vintage. Also added by the factory is the rearview mirror, anti-theft locking device, and an exterior antenna. While there’s a possibility the upholstery and carpeting are original since they match the authentic look and feel of the car, both look quite fresh.

Lift the cover in the back to reveal the 1.6-liter flat-four engine, which runs strong. Not only do you get that throttle response which made this car a favorite for enthusiasts, the suspension is nice and tight, so handling is quite precise.

If you were to park this Porsche 356B next to a 356A, you’d notice some slight difference in the exterior styling, like the bumper rim guards, positioning of the lights, and the front trunk handle.
