Built in the '90s with looks from the '70s.

It might look like a classic Volkswagen Type 2, but what you're looking at is actually from the 1994 model year. Although this design was last sold in the U.S. in 1979 before VW switched to the boxier Vanagon, the older body style was produced for Central and South American markets up until December 2013.

Thanks to the 25-year import rule, the 1994 Volkswagen Kombi is now totally legal in the U.S., and this one is currently up for sale through GR Auto Gallery.

This freshly imported Kombi might look a classic VW Bus, but its modern 1.8-liter four-cylinder is a huge advantage over vintage Type 2s thanks to fuel injection and a water-cooled radiator (there were versions that used air-cooled engines). The blacked-out grille is a telltale sign that his is the water-cooled model making room for the radiator, but other than that, the styling didn't change too much from 1967 through 2013.

The Kombi you see here is the T2c model, which features a roof that was raised by about four inches to allow for more interior space. That comes in handy especially with this model's camper-style interior that includes a rear bench seat that folds out into a bed.  Best of all, this 1994 Volkswagen Kombi is still in great shape with the odometer showing just under 85,000 kilometers, which is around 52,000 miles.
