Wearing its original color with a single repaint, this VW is looking quite authentic all around. All the exterior treatments are still present and the chrome shines nicely. Factory wheels and hubcaps ensure you’re getting something which can be shown off with pride. The black interior is in similarly well-preserved condition

Around back is the stout four-cylinder boxer engine, which fires right and up runs smoothly. A four-speed manual transmission makes for great driving fun. The original owner’s manual is included with the car. Being the final year of production for the Karmann Ghia, this car is like a capping accomplishment for Volkswagen.

Called the Type 14 inside Volkswagen, the Karmann Ghia was the sporty rendition of the hugely popular Beetle. While it shared a powertrain with its sibling, the Karmann Ghia featured a design from Ghia of Turin, Italy and hand-built coachwork by Karmann of Germany. The result was a svelte 2+2 coupe which was affordable, fun, and practical to own. Naturally, consumers in the US responded favorably to this combination and the rest is history as the Karmann Ghia racked up big-time sales.

If you’re interested in bidding on this car, don’t forget to register in advance. Raleigh Classic Car Auctions will have many other vehicles crossing the auction block, so check them out as well to see if there’s anything else you might want.
