The long wait is almost over.

If you’re interested in snagging the exclusive and highly collectible Nissan GT-R50 by Italdesign, Nissan has announced details about the delivery process. The first wave of customers will take delivery of the car in late 2020, about a year from now. The automaker anticipates deliveries will wrap up by the end of 2021.

Until then, anyone spending time in Japan will have multiple opportunities to see the prototype model on display. For example, one was in attendance for the 2019 NISMO Festival, which was held on December 8 at Fuji Speedway.

Back in June of 2018 the prototype broke cover, causing a big stir in the automotive industry. Since then, collectors and fans have been waiting with bated breath for the GT-R50 to be ready for delivery.

The public will get its first chance of seeing a production version of the Nissan GT-R50 by Italdesign in person at the Geneva Motor Show. That will no doubt generate even more interest for the car, which has already whipped up quite the feeding frenzy.

Nissan hasn’t disclosed how many deposits for the GT-R50 have been collected, only saying it is “significant.” Production will be limited to just 50 examples, guaranteeing the car will be a hot collector’s item from the very beginning.

There is little doubt values of the Nissan GT-R50 will rise dramatically soon after all the cars have been delivered to customers. Those lucky individuals who will be able to order one of these cars from the factory will enjoy a broad range of bespoke options to choose from. This means each of the 50 examples should be quite different from the rest, making each one that much more special and notable.

Each car is based on the already potent Nissan GT-R NISMO, which packs a NISMO-tuned and hand-built 3.8-liter twin-turbo V6 engine. This effort has helped to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the Nissan GT-R lineup for 2019, as well as the 50th anniversary of Turin-based Italdesign in 2018.
