Further proof that classic Porsches are meant to be driven.

When it comes to collector cars, "all-original" and "low-mileage" are generally important terms to hear, but in the case of this 1958 Porsche 356A Speedster, a few changes and several hundred thousand miles help create even more character. Even though this Porsche's odometer has rolled over five times now (currently showing 527,000 miles), it is in incredible condition for its age and mileage – you could drive it or show it!

As is the case with any high-mileage car, this Porsche 356 Speedster has gotten a lot of use in its days including attending 47 out of the 56 Porsche Club of America Porsche Parades! As such, the body isn't perfect, but it appears to be a solid 10-footer. This 356 has had an expected amount of body work for a 61-year-old car with this many miles including some front end work due to hitting a light pole in the 1960s and new floor pans installed in the '70s. There are some scrapes, scratches and chips in the paint from its years on the road, but this Speedster is still going to get plenty of looks.

This Porsche 356 was purchased new from Sagan’s VW/Porsche in New York, and it was owned and driven by its original owner for 54 years. Throughout the years, the engine and transmission have been replaced, but recently the seller reacquired the original transmission (which is included with the car). This car is also being sold with a Porsche Certificate of Authenticity, a collection of personalized plates this car has worn over the years, a copy of the original title and various tools and spare parts. Despite not being the original engine, this car's 1.6-liter flat-four is still period correct coming from another 1958 Speedster.

The second owner (and this auction's seller) has owned this Porsche since 2012, and the car has lived a less adventurous life ever since sitting in storage under a cover.
