Deck The Halls At 181 MPH In This Hennessey-Tuned Jeep

Records are meant to be broken... even if they're your own. With that in mind, Hennessey Performance set out to break the record it created back in 2017 for "world's fastest Christmas tree" with a tuned 2019 Jeep Grand Cherokee Trackhawk.

Two years ago, Hennessey strapped a tree to the top of a stock Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat widebody, and it was able to hit a top speed of 174 mph. Not bad. This time around, John Hennessey's own 2019 Jeep Grand Cherokee Trackhawk was used, and this SUV's stock 707 horsepower has been cranked up with a Hennessey Performance tune that resulted in 1,000 horsepower!

For this stunt, Hennessey headed to Continental's Proving Grounds in Uvalde, Texas, which includes an 8.5-mile oval track, to see how high of a top speed this tree-hauling Jeep could achieve. An aftermarket, suction-cup roof rack was used along with some serious tie-down ratchet straps in order to hold the six-foot-tall Douglas fir to the Jeep's roof up to a top speed of 181 mph! Check out the "record-breaking" run in the video below, and while it's all for fun, that Jeep's engine at full rev and top speed is no joke.

Unlike their first attempt, Hennessey trimmed this Christmas tree with lights before subjecting it to this testing. As cool as it is to watch a tuned Trackhawk hit 181 mph with a lit tree on the roof, we have to give ultimate credit to the roof rack company, SeaSucker, for making a rack that can hold on at such a high speed with just suction cups!

We can't wait to see Hennessey tops this in the future!
