This one is not for Americans.

It turns out not just Americans have a taste for muscle cars, despite what you might hear. For that reason, the 2020 Chevrolet Camaro has been making its way into quite a few markets around the world in the hopes of boosting sales. Japan is one of those new sales areas, and to celebrate this historic move Chevy Japan is offering a special Camaro Heritage Edition limited to just 90 cars.

All Heritage Edition cars will have distinct Rally Green Metallic paint and white hood stripes. You might recognize this Rally Green from the 1967 Chevrolet Camaro, which also was offered with Rally Green paint, although it was not quite as deep as this new iteration.

According to GM, the 90 Chevy Camaro Heritage Edition cars will be broken into three configurations: 30 LT models, 20 convertibles, and 40 SS cars. No matter which one buyers choose, a Kalahari tan interior is standard, as are unique five-spoke gloss black wheels.

While Americans might feel a sense of envy at the Japanese getting their shot at this special edition of the Camaro, the grass isn’t completely green on the other side of the ocean. Thanks to stiff car tariffs, buyers will be paying about double what the equivalent trims here in the United States sell for. Not only that, the cars haven’t been converted to right-hand-drive, so it’s like buying a JDM Nissan Skyline GT-R R32 for driving in the United States. Learning to drive sitting on the opposite side of the car where you’re used to being can be a bit unnerving.

Just like the Ford Mustang, the Chevrolet Camaro is seen as an automotive icon in many foreign countries. It only makes sense to create an exclusive special edition version of the car to get some buzz going once the American muscle car enters a new market.

Chevy Japan has already begun taking orders for the 2020 Chevrolet Camaro Heritage Edition. Customer deliveries should begin sometime in the summer.
