Mildly restomodded, this pony looks sharp.

There are many, many fans of the Ford Mustang. While they might all have their own reasons for loving the famous muscle car, in the video below Nathan Cali describes his. As a commercial car editor, he’s around all kinds of impressive vehicles constantly, so his deep love of the Mustang is a huge endorsement. However, he doesn’t go on about his undying love of Ford as a company, but instead he cites some other interesting reasons for loving the Mustang.

Cali’s current car is a beautiful 1965 Ford Mustang Fastback, which quite a few enthusiasts would love to own. His has been mildly restomodded for the sake of increased performance, while preserving the look and character of the car as much as possible.

Getting his car was a journey. The guy Cali bought it from had owned the ’65 Fastback for 30 years and so understandably was quite attached. It took Cali showing just how enthusiastic he was about the car for the other man to let go. That’s when Cali was able to start addressing the many mechanical issues, so one day he could truly enjoy driving the car.

Of course, Cali already had experience with an unreliable Mustang. Originally to quench his thirst for one, he bought a ’66 when he was just 15 years-old. The car had a lot of problems, so half the time he was fixing it and half the time he could actually drive and enjoy it. He describes the purchase as a bad idea, yet it helped lead him to where he is today.

Like many enthusiasts, Cali’s obsession with cars started when he was a kid. He focused much on the design of vehicles on the road, constantly pointing out details to family members as they traveled. No doubt he annoyed some, considering he describes the Mustang’s V8 as a perfect match to him since it’s loud and obnoxious.
