Found tucked away in a barn, this '32 Ford was built in a period correct way with all the details that you would expect to see in a late-'50's/early-'60's hot rod. The car has been named the ElDorodder thanks to the car club of the same name of El Dorado Kansas. El Dorado is a town just East of Wichita. Bill White, the president of the ElDorodders Car Club, began the build of this car in the 1950's. Bill's untimely passing in '59 meant the car just sat in an unfinished, preserved state in a barn in Wichita. Our client purchased the car and completed the build as he felt the car may have looked for the hot rod show circuit back in the '50's. The result is simply stunning. This is a car that you find more details on the more you look at it, although at first glance it is a simple looking car. We don't want to spare you the satisfaction of looking at the pictures of this beautiful car by telling you all the details, we most definitely suggest taking your time checking out the 150 pictures. But, we want to make sure that we share all the knowledge we have about the car.
The paint color is Dark Cherry Pearl, which looks great paired with the chrome trim, and contrasting white interior. When our client acquired the car it was painted in a Light Blue Metallic paint, and once the blue metallic paint and primer were stripped, the original Ford Black was revealed. Further examination of the body showed that there were no patch panels. Once it was determined that the body would be lifted off the frame, surprisingly it looked as though the body had never been off the frame in the car's earlier days. The car still has the original lead work on the molded rear fenders, front fenders, and running boards.
Our client took the car to a small town in Indiana for the addition of a tuck & roll interior. Done by a professional, it looks as though hundreds, and hundreds of hours were spent to get it just right. From the seats to the headliner, the stitching, fit and finish are excellent. A forward canting windshield as well as roll down rear windows allow a little more air flow to the interior. The classic looking Stewart Warner gauges are surrounded by a pearl inlay in the center of the dash and beneath your feet is black carpeting with integrated sparkles. Definitely a feature that makes you do a double take. A '48 Chevrolet steering wheel finished to match the color combination of the rest of the car finishes off the interior styling.
Mounted between the front fenders, and framed by a white firewall, is a '61 Cadillac 390ci V8 mated to a '39 Ford 3-speed transmission. An Edmunds 2x4 intake manifold is topped with a pair of Carter WCFB carbs help channel fresh air to the gold painted engine. Polished Offenhauser valve covers, a polished alternator, chrome carb trim, and ceramic coated manifolds brighten up the engine bay.
An amazing amount of work and thought over a year long time period resulted in this jaw-dropping hot rod. Although it sat dormant for 50 years before, this car has gained notoriety at a number of shows and even took home a Street Rod Top 100 award. A Hop Up Magazine article put the car in front of many others who may not have been fortunate to see it in person at shows. This beautiful car has a lot more going for it than an interesting history, and being a 'barn find' car.
