The 1970 Plymouth AAR Cuda name originated from Dan Gurney's All-American Racers (AAR) team. SCCA homologation required that manufacturer built a minimum of 2500 of the car in order to compete in the Trans Am series. In a 5-week period between March and April of 1970 a total of 2,724 AAR Cuda's were built.
This 1970 Plymouth AAR finished in the original color Rallye Red is accented by the black longitudinal strobe stripes and matte black hood and fender tops and duck tail rear spoiler. Opening the door, you will find a black interior with front bucket seats, center console and Rallye instrument cluster.
Pulling the hairpins and opening the aftermarket matte black fiberglass hood you will see a large air cleaner which underneath rest the legendary three 2-barrel carburetors sitting on top of an Edelbrock manifold all mounted to the 340 cubic inch motor. The power from this motor is transferred to the smooth shifting A727 three speed automatic transmission and Sure-Grip rear end. The motor is currently running headers, but the manifolds are available. The rumble from the exhaust exiting just in front of the rear tires is unique to the AAR Cuda.
The 340 cubic inch date code correct motor is mated to a transmission which is numbered correctly to the sequential numbers of the vin tag. The cowl and radiator support identification numbers also match the sequential numbers of the vin.
It appears the restoration of this AAR Cuda was completed approximately 10 years ago and remains in very good overall condition.
