Before getting to the details about this car, we wanted to preface with a disclaimer: It does not represent our dealership. We fully understand the United States history that pertains to the name of this car, and the flag painted on the roof. This car is not part of our inventory because we're trying to make a statement; we have been tasked with selling a classic muscle car for our client, which is what we intend to do. Whether you're worried about the history tied to the adornments on the car, or not, we thought that it was worth bringing up. Now onto the car!
Easily recognized at a glance, this bright orange Charger is a clone of the car seen on the popular Dukes of Hazzard TV show, and later movie. This car has all the details that the TV show car had, but unlike the characters in the show, you don't have to be taunting the sheriff, breaking the law, or in love with your leggy cousin to enjoy it! Bright orange paint, CB antenna, push bar on the front, '01' on the doors, and a slight forward rake all pay homage to the TV series car.
This car started life as a Charger Premium that came off the Hamtramck production line with a 383ci V8 under the hood. The 383 remains, but the car has been restored to a slightly different look than a Charger Premium. Taking on the look of the R/T was an important part of the transformation into becoming a replica of the Dukes of Hazzard car. Headlight doors, blacked out rear panel, R/T trim and badging were added. The exterior is in great condition, with body panel fitment being dialed in just right, and all exterior trim in very good condition including the chrome bumpers.
The interior is tidy, and restored close to what the car would've looked like when new, with a few mods thrown in that the Duke boys would approve of. Tan vinyl bucket seats, a wood trimmed console, three spoke steering wheel, and a neat lineup of gauges are just what we'd expect to see. The CB Radio, and roll bar are additions that are true to the TV series car. The interior is in great condition; door panels and other upholstery are in nice condition, all extra chrome trim looks great, and the seats are just the place to be for flying down the back roads.
The engine bay is very clean, and features a number of small upgrades to the 383. Edelbrock valve covers, and an aluminum radiator are the two things that catch your eye first. Under the car, a Flowmaster exhaust, and new fuel tank are upgrades that are quickly noticeable.
It's immediately recognizable; we can just picture it flying through the air between a bunch of trees with a sheriff hot on its tail. The car is memorable, and the TV series was loved by many. This is your chance to own a little piece of pop culture history. If your plan is to add this car to your collection, we have some advice. Obey the law, don't be running it off road, taunting sheriffs is a bad idea, oh…and don't be like Bo Duke and tell your cousin you'd marry her if she wasn't your cousin.
