The 1970 International 1200 D, 4-door, long-bed, rear-wheel-drive pickup truck offered here was “much more than a truck” back in the day, and the same can be said of it today. This remarkably original (every body panel is original), white-over-blue Arizona truck will be the talk of the town at any cars 'n coffee—or pickups 'n pizza—gathering, no matter what present-day luxury hauler other folks arrive in. With or without its Arizona-emblazoned mud flaps, at just over 37,000 original miles, this is an exceptionally rare survivor, a truck that has definitely benefited from painstaking owner care over the 50 years it's been in service.

Sometimes referred to as the “Travelette” model, that was a reference to the International “Travelall” which, like a Chevrolet Suburban, offered three-row seating. Here, however, the seating is two-rows, crew-cab style, with four easy-entry doors. The lined cargo box is an extended affair, able to handle lengthy loads including a camper. Crew-cab trucks are common today, but in 1970, they were few and far between.

Outside, the truck's paint is uniform with some scratches and slight dents noted on the cargo box. The white hood and roof, over the blue paint on the remaining body panels, makes a style statement. White 8-spoke wheels with chrome hubs and lug nuts are mounted with all-season radial tires. Undamaged, tasteful lower-body chrome trim runs the length of the truck. All factory emblems, including the iconic IH logo, are in place. West coast-style side-view mirrors are mounted. The chrome grille, headlight-surround trim, and front bumper show extremely well, as does the rear step-bumper. Cabin glass is free of cracks and imperfections.

Inside, the truck delights with its 70s vibe. The expansive dashboard features a horizontal 120-mph speedometer behind a steering wheel that could've only come from the same decade that produced disco music. The floor-mounted 4-speed shifter, however, is “all truck.” A pushbutton AM factory radio is installed in the dash beneath which there is superficial damage—about an inch square—to the dash trim. Heating and air conditioning controls are of the sliding-lever type. Seat upholstery features a handsome blue-check fabric with vinyl inserts. Matching carpeting covers the cabin floors. The upholstery and trim on all four doors displays exceptionally well-maintained, original condition.

Under the hood is a complete, clean, and properly equipped engine bay. The 345- cubic-inch V8 features IH-red engine-block paint. This IH 1200D is both a head-turner and a throwback to a simpler time when pickup trucks were just beginning to become America's favorite vehicle. Seems like a pretty desirable combination to us.
