For 1966, the Pontiac Tempest underwent a major overhaul. These included more rounded bodylines, with a Coke-bottle styling effect that was similar to the full-size Pontiacs of the time and was the styling fad for American cars in the 1960s. Additionally, this '66 gets its power from a large 400 C.I. V8 from 1973, replacing the original V8 of much smaller displacement. Torque from that 400 gets to the pavement through a 4-speed manual transmission, providing for fun and immediate shifting.
