First generation Fairlane was for model year 1955 and 1956 and would come in to replace the Crestline as Fords premier full-sized offering. There were six different body styles offered with a few different engine options. The four-door town sedan was the most popular Ford sedan sold that year with 254,000 being sold with a retail price of $1,960 which is about $21,000 in todays dollars.
