One-Owner 27k-mile BMW Z8 M5 V8 6-speed Black / Red ///
An instant classic since debut, the 2000 BMW Z8 seamlessly blends timeless design with modern high-performance prowess. This two-seater roadster's sleek and aerodynamic exterior paying homage to the legendary BMW 507 from the 1950s.
Under the hood, the Z8 is powered by a robust 4.9-liter V8 that fires instantly and generates the same muscular exhaust burble that we enjoyed on the M5, except that the volume is higher when you lower the convertible top. Delivering an exhilarating 400 horsepower through the aid of a manual six-speed transmission, the Z8 puts down a seriously quick 4.5 second 0-60mph time. Acceleration is nothing short of effortless.
The interior of the Z8 is a masterclass in craftsmanship and attention to detail. Despite its homage to interiors of old, the Z8 layout works remarkably well. The retro touches are combined with excellent switchgear placement and a power telescoping steering wheel and power seats, allowing for a modern and comfortable driving position. What isn't body-color painted in the Z8's intimate interior is either high-grade Nappa leather or aluminum.
One of the first cars delivered to the public (notice the exceptionally low VIN), this Z8 is offered for sale by its original owner who has lovingly maintained this thoroughbred since its delivery. Driven just the right amount each year to keep everything operating in top form.
We're tempted to say BMW has built a better Viper-with British style and manners, German engineering and reliability, and true musclecar fire-but even that's a bit unbecoming. Suffice to say that we're all witnessing the birth of an automotive legend. As with the Cobra 427, we'll all remember the first time we saw a Z8, the first time we heard one, and, along with a privileged few, the first time we drove one.
