The Basil family is very pleased to present for sale this beautiful 1969 Oldsmobile 442 convertible for your consideration. This vehicle began its life in the suburbs of Pittsburg where it was purchased with the intention of being a drag car in the v8 convertible class at a local drag strip. After many many years the vehicle was found during an estate sale where a local gentleman was astonished to find the car sitting there. He thought it couldn't have been a 442 with the bench seat column shifted convertible. He checked the vin and sure enough a real deal 442. He then purchased the vehicle and began the disassembly and restoration of the vehicle. During this process he learned the original motor was no longer present. After some time of getting the vehicle back into running and working order he had posted some photos online. One day he received a phone call from a gentleman stating this was his old vehicle. They then confirmed the claim with the 1st owner through some vehicle specific questions. The 1st owner made mention of the vehicle originally being w-32 vehicle and that the restoration on the car was not correct. So, he had then gone through the vehicle again to get the vehicle where you see it currently in its true former glory of being a w-32. This car through the years had received a very extensive restoration throughout every inch. The 1st owner had stated that during his drag racing days the original motor was pulled and replaced with a 455 as many vehicles were becoming faster within his class. The car in its current form is painted in a base coat/clear coat in code 53 being Nassau Blue. Under the hood of this 442 you will notice the red inner fender wells along with the ram air tunnels being sent to under the front nose of the car. The ram air will force feed this 400 cubic inch motor to gain all the additional power. The 943 on the cowl tag would indicate this vehicle to come from factory with a blue vinyl bench seat. During the restoration of this 442 the owner was sure to not miss any details on the car, check the door jambs to see the gm label along with tire pressures, under the hood you will notice the correct tagging along with factory markings the attention to detail on this one is truly astonishing. Power is sent to the rear wheels of this car through the use of a turbo 400 transmission mated to the 400 cubic inch v8. The newly installed factory correct wheels are mounted inside a set of redline tires which have very little to no use. This is a car that will require nothing but a new owner hop in put the top down and enjoy, this is one you don't want to miss!
