We are pleased to offer this 1963 Chevrolet Corvair Monza for purchase. The Corvair has a well-cemented place in American automobile history for many reasons, but most notably for Ralph Nader's book. The problems in this book addressed specifically the 1960-63 Corvair's. The 1964 model included an improvement in the car's swing axle rear suspension with the transverse leaf spring along with softer rear coil springs designed to diminish rear roll stiffness and create more neutral handling attributes. Later studies showed that under extreme circumstances the Corvair was similar (safety-wise) to its competitors.
Finished in a shimmering shade of Burgundy Metallic over a black interior, this car shows very well. The chrome remains in good condition as well. The car rides on pained 13-inch factory wheels with hubcaps.
The Corvair's are rear engine 6 cylinder vehicles that broke the mold of the American sports car necessitating a heavy V8. It was the only American-designed, mass-produced car to feature a rear-mounted air-cooled engine. It was truly a groundbreaking American car in many aspects designed to compete with European-manufactured sports cars. Their popularity grows today with a large fan following.
Price does not include applicable tax, title, license, processing and/or $199 documentation fees.
