STK 3888 1966 Ford Mustang GT Convertible
Ford changed the automotive landscape at the New York World's Fair in 1964. Many believe that no car in history, other than maybe the Model T, affected the way Americans perceive automobiles like the Ford Mustang. This AACA award winning 1966 Mustang convertible received a total restoration in 2014. The Mustang left the factory as a C-code model equipped with a 289/2V engine and was not optioned as a GT. That said, virtually every mechanical component on the car is 'date-code correct' and we have no reason to believe that it is virtually 'as delivered'. The exterior was carefully refinished in Wimbledon White and accented with Mustang GT Appearance Package as a tribute to that handsome model. This package adds front fog lights, GT striping, chrome accents and rear exhaust outlets. Factory steel wheels are equipped with wire-wheel covers and mount BFGoodrich Silvertown bias-ply whitewalls. The interior has been beautifully restored. Seating was reupholstered in red vinyl and is in excellent condition. Door cards, dash, carpeting and 3-spoke wheel are all outstanding. There is a full set of factory analog gauges and a factory AM sound system. Window glass is tinted and the power convertible top is in excellent condition. The owner states that horsepower is provided by the factory 289ci Windsor that is equipped with a 2V carburetor and everything under the hood looks factory fresh. Exhaust is routed through a custom dual exhaust system to the GT outlets that sound great. The Windsor is backed by a 3-speed Cruise-o-Matic automatic transmission. The virtually spotless chassis is equipped with power steering and manual drum brakes. This is an outstanding first-generation Mustang convertible that will be the showpiece of your garage. ALL VEHICLES SOLD “AS IS”.
