Turquoise Treasure: 1958 Chevrolet Impala

It’s truly crazy to think that Chevrolet has been using the Impala nameplate on-and-off for the past 61 years. While today’s Impala may not necessarily catch your eye, this first-generation 1958 Chevrolet Impala will certainly turn some heads.

Only two people have owned this Impala since new and it’s clear that both owners took extremely good care of this vehicle. An interesting fact about the first-generation Impala is the fact that it was only made for the 1958 model year. The company manufactured 125,480 Impala coupes, which helped Chevrolet immensely during a recession year.

The exterior design of this Impala is very elegant, especially with the attractive Tropic Turquoise paint color and chrome accents. Though the car rolled off the assembly line in this color, it has received a respray at one point in its life.

I personally love the paint color – do you think the new Impala features any intense hues such as this, or do you think Chevrolet only offers variations of beige, black, grey and white? If you’ve spent any amount of time on the road lately, I’m sure you know the answer to that question.

Inside the cabin, the turquoise theme continues, and it’s just as vivid. The interior is completely original, utilizing a split-bench seat with vinyl and cloth upholstery, as well as the factory AM radio.

There’s a 283 cu.-in. V8 engine under the hood of this Impala, which pairs to a 2-speed Powerglide automatic transmission to drive the rear wheels. The drivetrain has 104,296 miles on it, and though the seller doesn’t say much about its running condition, this Impala likely is a joy to cruise around in.
