Finding one in this kind of condition is a truly rare occasion.

Dressed in a smooth Fathom Green coat of paint that’s period-correct, this 1951 Chevrolet Bel Air should cause a stir when it rolls into any car meet, show, or classic cruise. These things are few and far between, so you’re pretty much guaranteed to have the only one wherever you go.

A restoration from a few years ago leaves both the exterior and interior of this Chevy in fantastic shape. All the body panels are straight and lacking flaws. All the paint, including the different shade of green for the roof, shines up nicely as does all the chrome. Factory wheels shined up to perfection and whitewalls that span the tire sidewalls help portray what this car looked like when new.

Cream and green, the interior is perhaps even more immaculate. The vinyl and cloth on both bench seats is free of tears, splitting, cracks, and stains. While there’s no radio, the optional heater was installed in the factory.

Using a nice 3-speed manual transmission, you get to better control the 216ci straight six under the hood. This is the factory setup, so you enjoy a pure experience. Connected to the engine is a single exhaust with a chambered muffler, keeping the exhaust note tastefully baritone.

While most people focus on the Tri-Five Chevy Bel Airs, or the 1955-1957 model years. While those certainly have a huge following, the unfortunate side effect has been the first generation 1950-1954 Bel Airs being used as parts cars to keep the Tri-Fives running. Finding one that’s complete, let alone running and looking great like this one is difficult, to say the least. By grabbing this car you’d be helping to preserve a classic which has been forgotten but needs to be preserved for future generations to appreciate. It’s also not hard to imagine that later people will realize the first generation Bel Airs are pretty much wiped out, causing the value of this car to jump dramatically. Fortunately, Streetside Classics is offering this unique opportunity.
