This is the unique convertible everyone wants to see.

With the horrors of World War II fading in the rearview mirror, Willys decided to capitalize on the nostalgic emotions of American GIs. Designer Brooks Stevens combined a four-passenger phaeton convertible with the looks of the jeeps, calling it the Jeepster. While most veterans didn’t care to remember what they experienced overseas, the result is you can grab this 1948 Willys Jeepster for a solid deal at under $20,000.

The Jeepster was launched in May of 1948, so you would be getting one of the first wave to roll off the assembly line. It’s now wearing a brighter yellow, making it stand out more than ever. Red upholstery for the seats really makes a strong statement, so this is a vehicle which will get you noticed. Fully expect people to stop and ask about your “Jeep car” since that’s exactly what it looks like.

A soft top and removable vinyl windows are included for this Jeepster, all in like-new condition. The brightwork just gleams, which really sets this apart from vintage Jeeps, despite a very similar front fascia. All of the steel wheels have been painted a light tan, with correct covers on them, including the rear-mounted spare.

While the factory dash and many of the gauges set in it look original, what’s under the hood is not. A much more modern 302ci V8 paired to an automatic transmission puts more power at your disposal, making this Willys Jeepster really move. This is the kind of car you can’t help but laugh as you drive hard, because it’s a blast.

Considering one of the weak points on the Willys Jeepster is the lackluster powertrain, this one is a good find. It gives you those unique looks tied closely to Jeeps, plus plenty of power, and fun driving dynamics. If you want to add this charming vehicle to your garage, contact Street Dreams.
