With Generation X and Millennials becoming more active in car collecting, we’re seeing rising values for many Japanese cars from the 1980s. You could ride that wave by grabbing this 1980 Datsun 280ZX 10^th Anniversary. This is no ordinary ‘80s Fairlady Z being offered through Street Dreams. There were only 3,000 of these 10^th Anniversary models made, but only 500 had the Red and Black exterior like this one. What’s more, this was the last 10^th Anniversary model made. If you can’t grab the first one to roll off the assembly line, having the last one is about as noteworthy.

Previous owners obviously understood how special this Datsun is, because it has 24,000 miles on the clock and remains in excellent condition. Everything is factory original, including that shiny, nearly perfect paint. OE alloy wheels and all the correct badging provide the right look. The red interior has essentially unblemished leather seats and carpeting, plus the original floormats.

There are some great details about this vehicle which encapsulate what sports cars in the 80s were all about. One of the most obvious is the T-tops, giving you a more open-air driving experience without having a convertible. Just like a proper enthusiast vehicle, a 5-speed manual transmission gives you control over how the 2.8-liter fuel-injected inline six-cylinder engine revs. Driving this is a pure experience, something which is unfortunately disappearing from modern cars.

This feature-rich car treats you right with factory air conditioning when the weather is too hot for rolling the power windows down. Rack-and-pinion steering is responsive, so you enjoy excellent feel and control. Power disc brakes are another nice attribute to have on a performance car.

The reason so many enthusiasts flocked to the Fairlady Z cars, including the Datsun 280ZX, was the promise of affordable and reliable performance. These cars shifted the market in a big way, and some big names took to them, like Paul Newman. So far, 240Z values have jumped dramatically, and it’s only a matter of time before that happens with the 280ZX.
