Run Day - Saturday December 7, 2024
This 1960 Chevrolet Impala was ordered brand new, as a "Sold Order" from Hoehn Chevrolet in Memphis Tennessee in September 1959. It was a special order with a VERY rare and seldom seen, factory four-speed transmission. This car was assembled in Baltimore Maryland and delivered to the dealership five weeks late, arriving in May 1960 just in time for graduation.
This car was a high school graduation present to a young man named William Power gifted to him by his parents. In the fall of 1963, William got married and drove the car to Bryce Canyon, Utah for their honeymoon. This Impala was William's daily driver until 1971 at which time he parked the car in an indoor storage facility in southern California where he then lived. Later in 1976 William and his wife moved to Las Vegas, Nevada. He drove the car to their new home where it was either in his garage at home or stored in his storage facility.
William's 30th high school reunion was held in 1990 at the Peabody Hotel in downtown Memphis Tennessee. William decided to drive this car to that reunion where it was parked just outside of the hotel. In 2010, William shipped the car to his daughter's home in Austin Texas to be stored and for her and her husband to enjoy at their home. William decided to sell his car in 2014 after 54 years of ownership. It was purchased at that time by the second owner before being added to the Boyd Collection.
During the 54 years that William owned this Chevrolet it was entered into many local car shows around the Las Vegas area. The car's history is very well documented including photographs of the car in front of the reunion hotel. This documentation and pictures will be included with the purchase of the car.
